Snow Adventures

Just a quick photo post from early December. Odin had a good time trying to figure out what the snow was. He didn’t stay out in it for very long, but he giggled when snowflakes landed on his eyelashes.

Random Photos

Just a few recent random photos…

Odin had fun playing with Matt’s water bottle the other day (in his favorite chair, of course). It was cute. I’m not sure what else I can say about it, so here are the photos.

Matt and Odin often sit out back on the screened-in porch while the dogs run in the yard. The two of them look so cute when they’re out there.

So sweet

I know this post is short on text, but I wanted to share a few photos from the past couple of weeks.

8-Month Update

Today Odin is 8 months old, and boy is he getting big!

As I write this, Odin is eating dinner – carrots, which he seems to love. It has been an adventure trying different foods and seeing which ones he likes the best. At present, I’d have to say that carrots seem to be his favorite, but that’s probably only because he hasn’t had any sweet fruits yet. He likes avocado, green beans, peas, and squash all about the same. The real outlier is sweet potatoes. Matt loves sweet potatoes and I hate them. I pureed a sweet potato for Odin, and his reaction was…interesting. After the first bite he made a pathetic and distressed face. After the second bite he literally made himself vomit. Into my hand. It’s going to be a while before I try to give him sweet potatoes again. This week we’ll start introducing some fruits along with his veggies.

Odin doesn’t crawl much; he has crawled backwards briefly and has Army-crawled, but he seems to prefer rolling to get wherever he wants to go. He laughs a lot and makes lots of different noises; the latest noise sounds just like the Bat-cycle from the latest Batman movie; I don’t even know how to explain it in words, but trust me, it’s priceless. That boy.

Matt, Odin, and I went to breakfast this morning and while Odin didn’t get to have any pancakes, he seemed to enjoy himself just fine.

Here are some other photos from yesterday’s “photo shoot” featuring Odin in his favorite chair.

Photo Friday

Since Pat is in Portland and I took the day off work to take care of Odin, I decided to take him to visit some folks at the college where I work. While we were there, Mikey took a few photos. Odin will be 8 months old in three days (I can’t believe it!) and he’s just so much fun to be around.

Early August

The beginning of August has been fun for Odin – he finally got to meet his uncle Alex, who came to town from Portland, Oregon for the wedding of Matt’s cousin, Patrick. It was wonderful for Alex and Odin to meet, especially since Odin is 7 months old already.

Here are a couple photos of my two Ravens fans:

While Matt and I attended Patrick’s wedding along with the rest of Matt’s family, my parents took care of Odin for us. It had been a while since they’d gotten to see him, and I think they enjoyed having him over for a bit. Based on this photo that my Dad took while Odin was there, it looks like Odin enjoyed it, too.

Happy Odin 08-03-13We’ve been introducing Odin to new foods, and the most recent one he’s tried is peas. He seemed to like them just fine (I guess) – he didn’t spit them out like he did with sweet potatoes, so that’s an improvement. The next set of photos makes me laugh because he’s strapped into his high chair but it looks like he’s wearing suspenders.

Here’s hoping for fun adventures in August!

7-Month Update

Odin turned 7 months old last Friday, and that day – after about three months of teething – he finally cut his first tooth! It’s right in the front on the bottom, where many first teeth are, and as his Mom I’m finding it strange to think that his days as a toothless baby are now over. He looks so big in this photo!

Odin continues to be a happy kid; his belly laughs are contagious and his smiles are the cutest, especially with those dimples. He becomes more interested in the world around him every day, and it’s entertaining to watch him discover new things.

He loves to talk; he babbles to himself often and will sometimes mimic certain sounds that I make. He’s slowly being introduced to different foods, though it seems like he just isn’t sure about the whole solid food idea.

This boy is such a joy to be around. Matt and I are loving parenthood so much.

Seven

Odin is seven months old today. Oh how time does fly. It seems like he was just born a few weeks ago. I don’t yet have his 7-month photo ready (though it is coming soon), but I do want to share some photos from the last few weeks.

Babies and Dogs are Wiggly

I love to take photos. I am certainly not a great photographer and I don’t have a fancy camera, but I love to take photos and try to capture special moments so that I can share them with other people or remember them later. Now that Odin is here, like many (most?) parents I try to get a lot of photos of him. But it’s difficult for a non-photographer like me to get good photos. If it’s not one thing, it’s another; bad lighting, bad positioning, the camera taking too long to focus (or not focusing at all), or the subject has left the premises in the amount of time it takes for the camera to perform its ridiculously long red-eye removal ritual. I think that’s actually the biggest problem; like any other baby would, Odin wiggles. And squirms. And the most adorable smile in the world can morph into a scowl, a cry, or a look of utter confusion in a matter of milliseconds. Attempting to get a decent photo of a baby and an animal together is a lesson in patience. And I think also impossible. Here are some more “outtakes” from our family’s photo attempts. They’re not all necessarily “bad” photos, they’re just the “not-so-greats.”
